Hayden Set for MotoAmerica Cameo at Barber Motorsports Park

Excitement rises for WorldSBK’s trip to Laguna Seca as the Kentucky Kid plans demonstration laps at the Honda Superbike Showdown of Alabama

2006 MotoGP World Champion and 2002 AMA Superbike Champion Nicky Hayden is set for a special appearance at the Honda Superbike Showdown of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park from 11th-12th of June, as the excitement grows ahead of Round 9 of the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, to be held at Laguna Seca in July. Honda World Superbike Team rider Hayden, who won his first Race in WorldSBK at Sepang International Circuit in May, will do demonstration laps on two vintage Hondas at the event in Alabama, whetting appetites for a weekend of racing in California that sees MotoAmerica join forces with WorldSBK from the 8th-10th July at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca; Round 9 of the 2016 WorldSBK season.

On the Saturday and Sunday just before midday in Barber, Hayden will turn laps on various vintage Hondas, including a 1960 Honda RC161 250cc Grand Prix racer and a 1979 CB825 Superbike straight out of the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. Honda's display of bikes will also be present at the Barber event, before MotoAmerica gets ready to head west to Laguna Seca and join WorldSBK in a weekend of unforgettable racing at one of the world’s most famous racetracks.

WorldSBK rookie Hayden, who won the 2005 and 2006 US Grands Prix held at the California track, will be keen to try a Superbike around the spectacular Laguna asphalt for the first time as he heads home to the US for his first home race with Honda World Superbike Team. With a victory at Sepang and a podium at Assen, the Kentucky Kid is primed and ready to fly the flag from 8th-10th July, with WorldSBK Races set for 14:30 local time (GMT -7) on Saturday and Sunday.
